A Birthday Cake for our Baby

Someone told me about the idea of making a birthday cake for the new baby as a means of helping James to understand that he is going to be a big brother.  I totally don't think he gets it, but I thought it would be fun anyways.  He loves to "help" me in the kitchen!  I got out his step stool and we went to work on a fabulous Pillsbury Funfetti cake for our little bundle!

James did a great job!  He helped me pour the ingredients into the bowl.  He is fascinated by the mixer! Anytime I make anything he comes running to see the action.

I love this sweet little face!

He got out his own measuring spoons and pretended to work.  So cute!

Off to the oven for thirty minutes...

After it came out of the oven we iced and decorated!

I love it!  We wrapped it in tinfoil and put it in a Ziploc and off it went to the freezer for safe keeping until our little boy arrives.

We can't wait to meet him!

Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

If You're Happy and You Know It!

All of a sudden James is starting to imitate practically everything we say.  He is starting to put a lot of phrases together and his little voice is so sweet.  I wish I could bottle it up and keep it forever!  Instead I am trying to capture some video when I can.  He is our James singing "If You're Happy and You Know It".

Happy Easter... a little late!

The past few weeks have a been a little crazy to say the least... more about that later.  But I did want to share a few sweet photos from our wonderful Easter celebration weekend.

Saturday we joined my sister and her family for their neighborhood egg hunt.  James did better than I thought... though he mostly wanted to pick up the plastic eggs and throw them on the ground.  He had his first jelly bean and he loved it!  It was a beautiful day... perfect for an egg hunt!

On Sunday my sister hosted a brunch after church, which was beautiful!  She left no detail undone.  It was a really fun morning for the kids and adults alike.

The kids had a blast playing together and running around outside collecting more plastic eggs in the backyard.  We are so blessed to have most of our family nearby and for these kids to have the chance to grow up spending time with one another.

He is not here; he has risen, just as he said

The Zoo

I have been wanting to take James to the zoo for a while, so this past Tuesday the weather was beautiful and we decided to head down there with my sister and her friend.  With nine kids 7 and under it was a little crazy!  We spent a lot of time chasing after little ones and not quite as much time looking at animals!  But it was really fun anyways.  James loved it.  The lions were especially cool because they were active and roaring.  Here are a few pics from our day.

We only had one small mishap... we lost Sam for a few minutes.  He is always the wanderer!  But otherwise it was a fun filled day.   We can't wait to go back!
