One Month Old!

Dear Ethan,

Today you are one month old and we can hardly remember what life was life before you arrived!  You are the sweetest little guy and we are enjoying getting to know you.

Here is what you have been up to:

- You are coming to life!  This past week you have been much more alert.  You are tracking things with your eyes and are mostly content during your awake hours.
- You love your bouncy seat and laying on your tummy in the playroom.  The swing has quickly become your favorite place to sleep.
- You makes lots of snorts and gurgles and I think I have even heard a coo or two!
- You are eating like a champ!  Typically you like to have at least four ounces every three hours though usually once a day you will go five or six hours between feeds.
- You are still wearing newborn diapers and some newborn clothes though they are getting tight!  We are working our way into the 0-3 month things.
- You tend to be awake most mornings, just taking a cat nap or two and then sleep the afternoon hours away.  You are good at night too.  You eat and go right back to sleep.
- We have you sleeping in your room now though you have not yet slept in your crib.  We should buy stock in Duracell because we are going to be going through a lot of batteries for the swing!
- You seem to be a little bit of a touchy baby.  Things need to be just so for you to go to sleep.  So far swaddling and swinging are key!
- You love to be snuggled and held.  When we go out places I put you in the baby carrier and you go right to sleep.
- Your brothers love you!  James is always coming up to you and saying, "kiss, kiss".  Then he leans over and gives you a smooch.  He also likes to help me burp you after you eat and wrap you up in a blanket.

Life sure is different with two babies!  I am quickly learning that everything takes twice... if not three times as long as it did before.  Getting out of the house is difficult, but not impossible.  I am navigating the ins and outs of having two little ones as best as I can and every day seems to be getting a little easier.

Ethan, you are so loved!  When we found out that you were a boy I prayed and asked God for wisdom and guidance.  I felt a little frightened and overwhelmed at the task of raising two boys for His Kingdom.  But He assured me he had chosen me specifically for this task and He chose you specifically for us.  You are such a blessing!  I know God has very special plans for your life and He is going to do something so great through you that we cannot even begin to imagine!  We need only to prayerfully listen and follow.

There the child grew up healthy and strong. He was filled with wisdom, and God's favor was on him.

Tummy Time!

Ethan has been working on his tummy time!  So far he likes to lay on his belly... at least for a few minutes.  And James likes to help him.  He is such a sweet brother!

He lays down and shows him how it's done.

And then he gives him a kiss

Good job Ethan!  We are so proud of you!

After a few minutes he is tuckered out!

Time for another nap!

First Days

Life has been very busy since Ethan arrived.  We are adjusting to little sleep, loud cries and two year old temper tantrums.  It has been tiring to say the least!  But there have been just as many sweet moments and I know this time will pass all too soon.  His newborn clothes are already getting tight!  I have had lots and lots of help, which has been a huge blessing!  I am forever grateful to our families and friends who have brought meals, held the baby, taken James on outings and kept him occupied so I could rest.  This has truly been such an enjoyable time for our family and I will remember it fondly.

These first days are fleeting.  Ethan is changing so quickly and I am trying to capture the moments...

The first time Nana and Aunt Lala saw him...

My first time holding him... it was love at first sight.

Big brother Drew...

Nan

Aunt Heather...

Daddy...

Pop...

And big brother James...

We came home on Tuesday, May 22nd, which was my due date.  It was wonderful to be home!  James is adjusting well and he really loves Ethan.  One of our first mornings home I came across this scene on the couch in our family room.

He had climbed up to see what his little brother was doing.  Then he decided to give him a kiss.

How sweet is that?  He is always wanting to give Ethan kisses and hugs.  He likes to help me feed him a bottle and burp him after he eats.  He often pushes my hand out of the way so he can do the patting.  It's too cute!  He is a little rough, so I have to keep my eyes on him at all times.  But I am trying to be very encouraging so as not to discourage his love for his brother.  These are two best buds in the making!

Life is busy, but it is so wonderful to have our sweet little guy with us.  We praise God for the gift that he is in our lives.  We love you Ethan!

Welcome Ethan George!

This post is a little late as we have been very busy transitioning into our new life as a family of five!

On Sunday, May 20th at 8:38 am we welcomed Ethan George into our hearts with love.  It was a beautiful spring morning!  He came very quickly, weighing 7lb 9oz and measuring 19 1/2 inches long.  He has a full head of dark brown hair!  He is perfect and we are so glad to have him here!

Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.  He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
