Grateful

I'm a little behind on my Thanksgiving post, but I didn't want to miss sharing pictures and memories from this special day.  This year the weather was sunny and mild and it was a perfect day for frying turkey and giving thanks with family and friends!  It was our first year doing a "fried" turkey and it was eventful!  Nothing exploded... thank goodness.  But... after stuffing the 19 pound bird into the cooker we discovered we didn't have quite enough oil to cover the whole thing.  Oops!    We were faced with the prospect of a half cooked turkey with dinner looming an hour away.  Ever resourceful, my wonderful husband figured out how to flip the bird halfway through the process and ensure the entire thing cooked all the way.  Phew!  Otherwise we would have been having just "sides" for dinner.

The table was set for a feast!

And the kids were ready to munch...

We shared stories and laughter and stuffed ourselves with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn, rolls and two kinds of cranberry sauce.  And this was after appetizers and before dessert!

My littlest turkey spent most of the night chilling.

The big kids ran around like crazies in the basement.

Cousin love!  James looks thrilled doesn't he?

Love this kid!

It was a wonderful day celebrating God's goodness and love.  And of course... this post wouldn't be complete without a few pictures of his first Thanksgiving!

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
~Psalm 100:4-5
